Basically, there are two types of gates. Hardware-mounted and pressure-mounted gates are the two different types. You can use hardware-mounted gate for some area you want to your child to be safe for sure like top of stairs and pressure-mounted gate for less unsafe places. You should, however, always remember, baby gates are not a substitute for parental supervision.
